I baby nothing. Except a few family heirlooms. So I don't wanna have to worry about ruining such a masterpiece with scratches, dust, dirt etc. any suggestions now that you know what I'm looking for??

I think my local dealer said it to me best. After 100 years of making the same gun. It's pretty hard to **** it up. I love my SR1911. I've owned two before that and it holds up like I expected. As others have pointed up the price you're saying is a "little" high but still worth it IMO.

You started out the conversation asking about the Ruger, and seemed to find reasons why that may not be the perfect gun. Now you're asking about the Colts and Springers. They are all great guns, but you may want to consider that you will not find your "perfect" 1911 until 10 years from now and 5 gun buys later.
Flip a coin and enjoy it.

If we are talking spending in the $800 range, I'd probably look at a SA Range Officer for just a little more.

Yeah. I think I def need to re-evaluate what I want. I've added a little money into the budget since the beginning of all this. I made the mistake of fondleing a Les Baer custom carry today. :/

Oh Good Lord! Now you've gone and done it!
The first really top-notch gun I ever handled was a Les Baer 45. Nearly pee'd my pants when I saw the results.

Nothing wrong at all with the Ruger 1911. But $800 is a ridiculous price in my opinion knowing what dealer cost is for that gun. If you're happy to pay the premium, then go for it.

Jay's Sporting Goods of Clare and Gaylord Michigan sell them for $645.00. Hell of a better deal.

It's my first 1911. Paid 800$ to. Just got it today. Don't regret it. I find that you get what you pay for.
