Default Ruger SR1911

My Father in law just bought a Ruger SR1911...Very nice gun... Only complaint or concern so far (and it only has about 60-70 rounds through it) with almost every Mag that have been fed into it there has been a round that would not feed properly...the round would get into the chamber but it would not allow the slide to go forward all the way...it is very close to being all the way forward... Not sure why its doing this...Maybe there is some break in time with either the gun itself or the mags...After clearing the round ( and I think it has been the first or second round every time) the rest of the mag has been no problem...
This is my first experience with a 1911...Anyone seen or heard of anything like this? Thanks for the help...

Magazine complaints are the #1 issue with most, if not all, 1911s. Second on the list is ammo type...is he using FMJ ball ammo? Try removing the slide and clean any factory crud they may be present on the slide or the frame then give it a light lube. It will improve with use.

+1 on mags being the problem. I have shot my buddy's Kimber numerous times. While he was doing his thing in the "Sandbox" he had me safe keep his gun encouraging me to take it to the range so that it did not forget what it was supposed to do.
He had two mags that were included by Kimber. One of the mags would feed without issues. The other mag would hang up regardless of what ammo I fed it. I replaced the second mag with a Wilson and it performed admirably. Having said all of that, neither mag liked hollow points. IMHO know your gun and what ammo works with it.

The SR1911 is the next gun on my purchase list. I am a Ruger Fanboy and I do not yet own a 1911 (required of any patriotic American).

You mean you didn't clean and lube it before you shot it?

Upgrade to Wilson Combat mags. I know you've already laid out a yard of money for the SR, but these will make 1911 life a lot easier.

I like how they encrusted the grips with their logo
