I also want you guys to kno that this will be my first 1911, i know i know theres maybe better options from other proven manufactuers. Being that this is rugers first attemped on a 1911. To let it be known im in love with glocks yea ima glock guy, jus wanted to try something new and we all kno a gun collection is never complete without a good 1911. So any thoughts on this pistol if any1 have or shoot 1 or on another model thats great and wont break the bank would be apprieciated...

I don't know to much about it but I think there is a pretty decent wait on one. Ruger can't seem to make enough of them.

The new Ruger SR 1911 is a great gun I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with a friend at the range who had just purchased one.
It performed flawlessly and was very accurate right out of the box. Very nice gun and the price is right!

initial reviews on the ruger 1911 have been very good, but the downside i'm seeing and hearing is availabilty in getting one. even my gundealer is having a hard time getting them. it was actually one i wanted to look at to add to my collection. another option to check out are the Springfield Armory 1911's. they are pretty good and i have just bought one recently.

+1 on checking out Springfield. They make awesome 1911s. All of them are comfortable to shoot and I am able to shoot them a little more accurately than some other 1911s.

i am a little partial to the SA's! i have owned a few over the years. just bought another one and when i compared it to the Colt, it felt better in my hand. i was really trying to like the Colt Defender, and it was cheaper than the SA, but fit won out. i really kind of wanted to buy the Colt as i have never owned one.

I fell in love with Springfield after my buddy let me shoot his TRP. If I only had an extra $1600 laying around...

I've heard nothing but good things about the SR1911 but I can't get my hands on one. I'm on the waiting list at the shop in Cedar Falls and I've been sitting at #13 on the list for about 4 months now.
