Called my local Gun Shop on monday to see what 1911 he had available. He stated that he had a Ruger and a S&W. Being only 5 min away I drove up and came home with the Ruger. He stated that they were hard to come by and he only received one from his dealer. I brought it home, cleaned and lubed it and went out back to test it out. I am very impressed with the way it groups and handles. Out of the box with reloads at 25 yds 5 shot 2.25 groups. After 100 rounds not one misfire or problem. for the sum of 640.00 I think it is a fine gun. Comes with 2 mags, Carrying case and small wrench to disassemble. I have an original Govt Mod but wanted to update. I was surprised that he had one because all other shops were on waiting list. If any of you are thinking of a Ruger 1911 they are a truly fine gun all made in the USA.

Sounds great aside from needing a special wrench to die-assemble. I hate that.

You got a great deal. The SR1911 has a MSRP of $799 and they are hard to find.

Yes I know it was a great deal. (have purchased over 23 guns from him in past 10 years + all my reloading stuff) I love Pennsylvania, 20 min to fill in forms and out the door !
