for the most part, a compensator on a 45 caliber 1911 is basically for looks and for most purposes, useless, and that's any compensator. whether threaded or a bushing type.

most people couldn't even tell the difference in one that's compensated from one that isn't when shooting. a competition shooter who shoots more in a day in competition or practice where a fraction of a second would mean the difference is a win or loss, would know that minute difference. the average shooter isn't.

most people want a compensator to make their pistol look more tactical or to look cool.

I've shot many 1911's with comps on them. And I can't find any reason to actually own one. I have a couple of the bushing type and I have used them to sweeten a trade deal an some people just love the tacticool factor. I think that's how I go tth ethings to begin with. I got thme o nguns and replaced them with a good bushing.

i have used a few in the past myself, including a couple that required a new threaded barrel. pretty costly for no more improvement that i saw in mine. but they sure looked cool!

if a person was building a competition, or target pistol or building a larger bore 1911, then i would see the usefulness of a compensator.

look at Canebrake's 460 Rowland on a 1911 Colt platform. or someone building and wanting a super accurate target pistol or some of the competitions shooters, where a fraction of a second makes a difference.

anything else is pretty much for looks IMO.

Worth the money for them. That's the bottom line. Don't expect a $1,200 1911 when you buy it and you will be quite pleased.
