What bothered me about it was that it would not feed hollow points reliably, even after Rock Island polished and tuned it so that it "would".
I now understand the design is incapable of handling HPs bcuz of frame size vs cartridge OAL. Consequently, I bought a Springfield EMP for CCW since it was designed around the 9mm length.
I do a lot of target shooting with my RIA 9mm and it serves me quite well. I have recommended it to people who were not ready to spend a $GRAND$ on another brand of 1911.
AXXE complains about cheap looking grips. I'd say that maybe he forgot about the $400 price point of the guns. It's a CHEAP GUN ! What can you expect ? At least it has a LIFETIME GUARANTEE. THAT was what prompted me to buy it.
Non-Colt standards for finish ? I'm wondering what that's supposed to mean. I have plenty of holster wear from my kydex holster but I do lots of draw-shoot so I understand the wear. Again, it's a CHEAP GUN !
But it more than satisfies me.
Even my flat black Colt Compact Officer shows plenty of holster wear from that same kydex holster so I don't follow him on that one.

There are four things we can never have enough of
sex
money
guns
ammo

Not necessarily in that order....
i think you are taking my words out of context. i never said it was cheap and the term i used was inexpensive IIRC. my comments about the grips and the finish are my opinions and i have looked a few of the RIA's side by side with Colt 1911's. there is a definate difference in the finishes. these are personal observations of mine. not complaints in the least. grips are an easy change and most people do.

BTW, i have an MetroArms American Classic Commander and had a ACII Government model, which are in the same price point as the RIA's. i do recommend the RIA's as very good 1911 in their price range and wouldn't hesitate in buying one at all myself. my next 1911 is probably going to be a RIA 1911 in 38 Super.

in the future i would appreciate it if you didn't try to infer things i didn't mean or say. i can speak my own mind and usually do.

rogrr Interesting yours would not feed HP ammo. And frame size to cartridge, what??!! I stepped out back before dark and a ran a few mags of mixed HP ammo threw it thanks to a friend . Some left over 185gr pmc hp and some 230gr XTP and GD bullet ammo he had . Not many rounds I know and maybe the first time I have ever started off a new pistol with HP ammo. No issues so far. Now finish. I really could careless how prudy it is or shinny a firearm is. IF it strips to bare metal do to normal wear that's fine. Only colts I own are my huntsman I bought around 1969 or 70. No other interest in owning any thing with colt logo on it. No bbq queens ether in this house. HA.

I have been carry'n kahrs for a few years, so I am use to reading about guys say'n my gun won't cycle with this or that ammo and my 3 run like a scalded dogs with any ammo tried. My first kahr came from a guy like that. Ran great for me !!! So I bought a few more.

I am not a newbe and will figure you what this one likes and dislikes and adjust for it but most times I can tune one to work if needed. Time will till. Thanks for your view.

The 9mm's are pickier regarding hollow point ammo, Rogrr was referring to a 9mm RIA tactical. But mine does love steel case Russian ball ammo.

Buy it.......if you don't like it, it'll be easy to sell.

My money is on you liking it.

I bought mine a couple months ago and I love it. I have had no functional problems. The only thing I didn't like was the grips but is no big deal.

I say buy it. You won't regret it.
