Default RIA 1911 guestions

I have avoided buying a 1911 for many years. Spent time shooting other guys pistols and enjoy them as well as any "new" pistol.

460+tax for a RIA Tacitcal FS for a new in stock pistol made in 2012 January according to armscor. Been just hang-in out at local general store.

Pro or cons on the make and model??

buy it! shoot it! and enjoy it!

Pros: inexspensive, but very well made. decently accurate. Mil-Spec, so aftermarket parts will work in it. reliable.

Cons: some come with very cheap looking grips and the finish isn't Colt standards. both of these are easy fixes though!

IMO, for a first 1911, it's a good choice because it's affordable, well made and decently accurate. Yes, buy the RIA 1911!

Picked up my tactical fs and have it cleaned up and ready to roll. Hopefully.

Nice to find I can use my Comp-Tac/ Kahr holster too. No extra rig needed.

I picked up a 100 rounds of FMJ to try out.

Also see our general store is getting there handgun stocks built back upp, except of m&p's it seems.

Hardluk1
I bought a 9mm RIA 1911 a couple years ago and have put about 10,000 rounds thru it. I'm happy with ALMOST everything about it.
What bothered me about it was that it would not feed hollow points reliably, even after Rock Island polished and tuned it so that it "would".
I now understand the design is incapable of handling HPs bcuz of frame size vs cartridge OAL. Consequently, I bought a Springfield EMP for CCW since it was designed around the 9mm length.
I do a lot of target shooting with my RIA 9mm and it serves me quite well. I have recommended it to people who were not ready to spend a $GRAND$ on another brand of 1911.
AXXE complains about cheap looking grips. I'd say that maybe he forgot about the $400 price point of the guns. It's a CHEAP GUN ! What can you expect ? At least it has a LIFETIME GUARANTEE. THAT was what prompted me to buy it.
Non-Colt standards for finish ? I'm wondering what that's supposed to mean. I have plenty of holster wear from my kydex holster but I do lots of draw-shoot so I understand the wear. Again, it's a CHEAP GUN !
But it more than satisfies me.
Even my flat black Colt Compact Officer shows plenty of holster wear from that same kydex holster so I don't follow him on that one.

There are four things we can never have enough of
sex
money
guns
ammo

Not necessarily in that order....
