Resale: 9mm 1911

So after a littel bit of searching, talking with 3 gun shops in my area and checking just about everyones websites(at least the ones I can find) 9mm 1911s are basically non-existent.

I've been looking at all 9mm 1911s available basically and I've basically made my decision that if I get one, I'd like to get the Para Ordnance PCX99R 4.25" barrel, single stack.

Davidson's Catalog Item Detail

Since this will be my first pistol purchase, and I don't know if I will like it very much, I'm wondering what you all think of re-sale value on such a gun?

Do you think it would be hard to sell or trade?

Go to GunBroker.com and search on {9mm 1911}.

Yea I'd say they will hold their value.

Many beginning shooters look for 9mm 1911s and they are tough to find at reasonable prices. The one you located is about as cheap as they come. Be advised that many "real" 1911 fans kind of sneer at any that aren't chambered in .45 ACP (as all of mine are). They generally sell pretty well though...

I have a 1911 in each 9mm, 38Super, 10mm, 45ACP. Different ones for different things. Mags can get to be expensive for the 9mm, but one should not buy cheap mags anyways. Some 38Super mags will also work.

I hear that 1911s chambered in 9mm are gaining popularity, due to felt recoil.
I feel that 9mm is snappy compared to .45ACP, maybe it's just me.

For awhile I was looking for a 1911 chambered in 9mm for competition reasons. Eventually I decided against it. S&W makes a superb Pro Series 1911chambered in 9mm, a bit pricey though.

Hope you enjoy your 1911 when you get it. Keep us updated.
Good Luck!!

lots of IDPA shooters are going to the 9mm and .40 1911 for ESP. YOu get the mag capacity of SSP with the 1911 trigger that cannot be duplicated by any tupperware gun.

Rock Island Armory is currently producing a couple different models of 9mm 1911's. Prices are much less than Para's

I have one of these and it is a lot of fun to shoot. You should be able to find one for $750-$800.

They really are not all that hard to find. Several companies make one.

I have the Para LTC too but mine is a 45. Very nice weapon. REsale depends more on who made a weapon adn what kind of shape it's in when/if you go to sell it. My Para LTC and P16 are selling for more than I gave for either. The 9mm Springfield I got for all of 550.00 and will sell for a good bit more.
