Remmy 1911 Mags
I have a Remington 1911 R1 that came with 2 7rd mags. I want to buy a couple more. The Remington store has 8rd mags. I see other retailers have 10rd mags. Will the 10rd mags fit my 1911? Are all 1911 mags interchangeable? (Given same type, Commander, Officer....)

In general 7-rds mags are interchangeable between true 1911 clones which your Remington is. 8-rd mags usually work too if they are of good quality. Larger capacity mags tend to be double stack and need a Para Ordinance style large magwell. Now there are long single stack mags that extend outside the standard magwell. Good ones should work but I've never tried them for functionality. Hopefully someone else who has will advise you...

Check out some Chip McCormick 8rd Power mags.
They've served me well in my Springfields.
Yes, any mag designed for a full size government model 1911 should work.

I'd never use the 10 rounders as anything but range mags. I've never seen them to be reliable and TBH who needs 10 rounds in a 1911 anyway. If you need high capacity - get a polymer gun. As I say every time, most factory mags are 1 step above junk so an investment in quality mags is worthwhile...

Thanks everyone. I agree with buying good mags. I was just wondering about the 10rd mags. I joined a "bowling" league at the local gun club and you get 10rds to knock down 5 pins. It's a timed event so it helps to have 10rds in one mag.

In the pin shoots I attend, if you don't clear the table in 8 or less - you won't win the round anyway. I shot with a fella that tried the 10 round mags and he spent a lot of time clearing jams. He was shooting a Les Baer as well...
