I shot a friends this past summer. It has a nice trigger and great sights. Seems like a solid 1911 for the money.

Handled one at a local shop and seemed like a solid $700 gun. Didn't see anything to justify the $800+ price tag. Just depends on what kind of deal you found. For $800 or more, I would spend my money on something else.

many members have the R1's and a few such as myself have the Enhanced model. i chose the Enhanced over the standard model give the features it had. did i feel the price difference was justified? must have, i bought it!

the R1's are solid pistols and very well made and finished. the Enhanced is just a better version of a great pistol. very accurate as well.

many firearms right now are going for MSRP or more, so if you can get a good deal on the R1 Enhanced i would jump on it.

It's a basic 1911 with a few upgrades. Only you can decide what makes it competition worthy in your world.

They can be found for $750, and I think it's a really solid buy for that price. I probably wouldn't have much interest if the price was much above $800 or so.
