That's kind of funny, the first thing I did with mine wash trash the flgr and go with a gi guide for. To each his own, one thing I do like is how the frame is sculpted where the grip and trigger guard meet.

i couldnt tell by the pictures i saw but is there checkering on the front side of the grip?

No, the front strap is smooth. I have many with and without checkering and other than feel I don't notice a difference.

thats kinda what i have found out to. id probably end getting some new grips that are rubber wrap around with the grooves anyway. just thought id ask

Grips are all about feel, on one of my colts I have chip slim grips and I cut some skateboard tape for the front strap. I tend to carry that one in inclement weather conditions.

ill agree with you there. and i do like the rubber ones on my sig they seem to provide a small amount of cushion and a small gun like the 238 they provide a bit more grip. i do like the stock grips on most 1911's but it will come down to when i get one and get to the range to try it out

If you want some really interesting grips check out the recover tactical cc3. Its a pretty neat concept.
