Default Remington R1 enhanced 1911 questions.

Hey guys hoping i can get some input here before i pick one of these up in a few weeks. Id like to know all the dirt on these 1911's if there are major issues, what i should expect, what to watch out for, just everything i can get to know on these 1911's. They happen to be the only 1911 current in my price range and i have dreamed of owning a 1911 from i the time i was 13 till now and hoping i can realize that dream soon. thanks in advance

This was my 1911 until I reluctantly parted with it for a target model. The factory fiber optic front is well matched to the rear, a great set. Everything worked perfectly out of the box. The trigger was really good, but a 10 minute polishing made it excellent. For the right price, a Strong Buy.

that seems a bit high. i gave a little over $800 for mine. has been a great pistol. very accurate and works well with every type of ammo i have put through it, including my reloads. fit and finish are great. very pleased with mine.

Mine was about $800, early production. They've done well which is a good thing so it reflects on the asking prices. GM prices are inflated. I'd expect under $900 elsewhere. One thing if may, cash is king. Show it to the dealer and negotiate a personal discount.

I thank those are sweet looking pistols. I am looking at the R1S. Other than the finish and the sights are they about the same quality?

if it's the stainless steel standard model, then there are much more changes than just the sights and the material. the Enhanced models get match grade barrels, extended beavertail grip safety with a memory pad, target trigger and a target hammer, different grips and some other minor changes.

i have held both and the trigger on the standard has alot of travel in it. the enhanced is nice, crisp and smooth pull with no travel. correct me if im wrong but i believe the enhanced also has a polished feed ramp along with the match grade barrel and bushing.

don't know about the polished feed ramp, as mine is quite smooth, but doesn't appear polished, but yes the Enhanced models have match grade barrels and a better fitted barrel bushing. the rear sight is also elevation adustable and drift adjustable for windage. i do like the trigger pull on my Enhanced model. IIRC, mine is right about 4.5 lbs.
