i have the R1 Enhanced model. very pleased with it. very well made. so far very reliable with all ammo i have used in it, including my reloads. probably much more accurate than i am! but i can get 2-3" groups at 10-15 yards consistently.

my only gripe about the pistol, is when i purchased mine, the Enhanced wasn't then available in stainless steel. now they do offer it. but that takes nothing away from how it performs.

so far, i haven't heard any negative reviews about the R1's yet. the only feature that some have mentioned is the Series 80 style firing system, so any upgrades would have to use Series 80 style parts.

Hang around here long enough and you'll see people say good & bad things about pretty much ANY gun. All depends on what they've invested their money and ego in.

Haven't heard too many bag things about the gun. Seems like a solid performer.

Canebrakes got one of the first ones that came out. maybe he will pop in and give his opinions on his as well. he's pretty well versed in the 1911 platform.

Another R1 owner here. It's a excellent 1911 pistol. The only complaint I have, are the factory magazines that come with it. I prefer the WC mags.

i have to agree with that too. the factory mags are kind of crappy. but that's really minor for most, because most of us buy more mags for our pistols anyways.

Where did you you read bad about it? Solid pistol and a good performer for the price on the lower priced models. Better guns for the price on the higher priced models.
