excellent news! Excellent pics! Thumbs up.

Some of us 1911 folks have been touting the Taurus as one of the best "for the price" 1911's out there right now.

For those that are NOT familiar - Taurus ended their exclusive contract with Beretta a decade plus ago. They went thru and retooled with some very good CNC machines maybe, hmmmm, 8 years ago and have not looked back.

While the Taurus is made in Brazil and is not 100% US made or carrying some fancy custom name, it's a hell of a good pistol package that will treat you right.

Congrats on a great addition to the arsenal!

JD

I've got a question for ya, JD. Are all of Taurus' firearms made on those machines or just the 1911's?

I can't say I have visited, or know anyone who has, so I can't say for sure.

The 1911's were moved to the CNC line when they came back into favor. While they have their haters, at $575 or so, its a great price for an all steel 1911.

Their revolvers have been love or hate. I know their polymer line is definitely not in the top 10 of most folks.

I've handled several PT1911's all of which have been good buys for the price. I liked what I saw enough that I bought a used one, rebuilt it for a friend who carries it everyday and has never had a problem in close to a year of constant shooting and carrying.

While there are a variety of ranges in the 1911 pool, the Taurus has some great features for a shallow end price.

Don't know if that helps, but I am up for a trip to the production house if you are.

JD

I remember reading somewhere that Taurus 1911s are made on a forged frame instead of the cast frames that most cheaper 1911s utilize. Does anybody know if this is true or not? If it is true that makes the Taurus a pretty good deal if you ask me. I've bought 3 Taurus guns over the years with very good success. I went with a Springfield when I stepped up to the 1911 platform, but might dabble in the Taurus line again if they are truly built on a forged frame platform. Just saying...
