Range Day Yesterday
3 Attachment(s)
It was nice enough yesterday that I thought I would head to the range. I thought I would take my Taurus since it had been over a year since I shot it the last time. So I packed up my range bag and about 300 rounds and headed to the range.

I was shooting next to a guy that had a gorgeous Sig 1911 Traditional Match Elite. He was wearing a Larue Tactical hat and was wearing a really nice set of Walker's Game Ear electronic ear muffs. But when we started shooting, my old Taurus was just center punching the bulls at 15 yards offhand. The guy next to me was shooting shotgun patterns with his $1000 Sig. I caught him eyeing my Taurus on more than one occasion, but I never told him it was just a $600 pistol that was outshooting his Sig. Just didn't have the heart. I had a great time shooting and it was even better because I was shooting personally good also.

But I think the best part of the day was that the range was just LITTERED with brass that nobody wanted to pick up. I spent as much time or more picking up brass than I did shooting. I brought home as much brass as I could fit in my bag! All in all, it was a very good day!

I didn't think that you could make her look any better than you did before, I was obviously wrong, that is one beautiful 1911. I don't think light grips against that finish couldn't get any better.

Thanks fellas. I like shooting that gun because it always surprises me by how much fun I have with it. I never worry about hurting and I'm not afraid to experiment with it.

Wow!! Beautiful gun and some awesome shooting. I like seeing range reports with pictures of targets. It inspires me.

Thanks. The tight group was 15 yards offhand. The bigger group was 25 yards from a sandbag rest.

I consider myself to be an above average pistol shooter, but I just compare what I shoot next to everyone else shooting around me. No idea if its actually true or not. My biggest problem is that I have a tendency to pull my eyes from the front sight up to the target to see where every shot goes. If I can make myself keel focused on the front sight and not look at my target until I'm empty, I can put down some very nice groups. Its just hard for me to have that much discipline.
