Default R1, Ruger, Mil Spec

I'm looking into picking up a 1911, mainly been looking at the Ruger, Remington, and Springfield MilSpec. I want to stay in the $600-$800 price range if at all possible, this will be my first 1911. Are there any bad points to any of these? I really like the Ruger, but it seems to be impossible to find, I like the fact that Rugers are made in the USA, the other brands I'm not sure where they are manufactured. My second choice would probably be the Springfield only because they have been around a long time.

I don't think you will go wrong with any of the three.

I'd get the first one of the three you find for sale and can afford.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

I own one of each, a Ruger SR and a Sprinfield...the Ruger is mine, the Springfield is my wife's. I like them both and like Cane said, you won't go wrong with either one. The Ruger is the nicest in terms of finish...stainless steel and some upgraded features. However, the Springfield is a great pistol, accurate and reliable and a great shooter. Definitely keep an eye out for sales, and like always, yes the Ruger is tough to find. Bottom line, the Springfield is nothing but solid, the Ruger is great and the Remington you won't go wrong with either. You're not going to miss, so it comes down to price and availability in your area.
