Nah, you were A-Ok in my book for being a newb and all. You asked good questions and took mental notes. It was a pleasure wandering the show with you and Scubie.

The "your cool woman" part I will hold against you until the day I die, but I have that right as I love me a cool redhead.

I might even invite you again next year, if you play your cards right and get a 1911 of your own before then.

It's an alloy frame and I don't fret over it at all. All my Sigs have alloy frames as well...

There are deals to be had in the used market, also.

I bought my DW C-BOB 10mm for less than $900 on gunbroker because it had a "blemish" (I still haven't found the blemish).

One of the best shooting 1911s I've ever owned I got used on a trade and I have about $400 in it. It has a Caspian slide on a Foster frame and whoever put it together did a great job. I can core the X-ring all day long at 10 yards without any effort on my part. The only thing bad is the Duracoat finish on the frame isn't great and I may send it to CCR to have it re-done...

awww shucks, thanks JD. You and Scubie are good guys, it was great to wander the show with both of you.

I'll take the compliment on my wife, as I know you like the redheads and I know it took all kinds of restraint

I would love to go back again, I think the dates for next year conflict with my usual dental convention, however I think the SHOT show and Vegas would be wayyyyyyy better than a boring dental show and winter in Boston.

Consider doing it yourself? It's amazing how easy it is with one of the Duracoat kits, especially on something as small as a 1911 frame.

Hey, how do you feel about a 3 inch barrel with a SS frame? I would imagine the frame would be much better but the spring would still be a concern?

IMO, springs should be changed:
5000 rounds for the 5"
2500 rounds for the 4"
1000 rounds for the 3"

Do that and you should be able to stay away from recoil spring problems.
