Oh, make sure you really need/want a laser before investing in it. Kimber loves to sell the CT equipped guns as they must get a great deal on the grips from CT...
Roger that, I will look for the better mags too, The Armory is one of the biggest Kimber dealers in the country, the guys there know the owner or something...dunno, was half listening to the "sell this gun" story.

Probably look into upgrading the spring as well if possible.

It's not really about upgrading the springs so much as these little guns wear out springs fast - especially with hot ammo. With a weakened recoil spring these guns will batter the alloy frame something fierce - one of the reasons I won't go below a 4" barrel in a 1911 - especially if it has an alloy frame...

Don't let me scare you away - the Kimber is a good little gun but I'm just not a fan of the 3" barreled 1911s at all. Springs aren't expensive either.

Here's my cold weather carry 1911. It's a Springer Loaded Champion 4" alloy frame. Came with night sights for about $850 OTD including tax. Great shooter with a real nice trigger. The OD green guns are hard to find sometimes though...

Either way, I have shot the Kimber before, went with a buddy, but not the Colt. Finding one of those to shoot is a bit hard within my area.
I would 2nd someone's statement about the laser, they are a nice "toy" but I think a bit unnecessary, just my $0.02

Colt over kimber by a lot. I've got a colt series 70 and a new agent. Both are superb super accurate and will feed anything 45acp you stick in the mags including empty cases. Colt your getting a lot for the money. Kimber is a cheaper gun quality wise your paying premium price for a gun that is delivering keltec quality. Kimber has been trading on a name since the 80s but never delivering out of the box performance

I'm sure others will have different opinions

Thats funny right there. I aint never seent a $900 Keltec.

Have you touched a new colt lately? I have, and they sure havent been as tight as the Kimbers.
The 2 previous Colt 1911's Ive shot, were poor compared to either of my Kimbers, in respect to frame fit and triggers.

Id easily say both of my Kimbers were bullseye guns out of the box

I am assuming that is a SS frame or would an aluminum frame do fine just in a bigger gun?
