Default Question

So as I mentioned in the forum glock vs. 1911 the 1911 is awesome. I am looking to get my first 1911 and as well as most people's my budget is tight. I came across a Rock Island Armory 1911 and was wondering for the price is it a good deal or just a low quality company trying to compete. Even I can't to get my first 1911 I'd rather save a little longer instead of having a over priced boat anchor. Any feedback would be great

There are a few threads on the RIA, but the simple version is they are a great 1911 for the price.

Dude, go ahead. Also look at high standard if you can find one, its another Filipino maker nowadays. I've only handled them in gun stores, but was very impressed with them.

the RIA, the Hi-Standard and the MetroArms are built in the Philipine Islands. they are good, basic 1911's that shoot well, function well, fit and finish isn't quite as nice as Colt or a Dan Wesson. i looked at another one last week, it's decent pistol with a decent price. IMO, a good basic 1911 for someone wanting one that's on a budget. would i buy one? after what i have heard from others, having owned the MetroArms American Classic II, and having looked at them and handled them, yes i would buy one without hesitation. i recently owned the AC II in 45, excellent pistol, accurate well made, and decently priced, i traded it to a close friend then bought the Remington R1 Enhanced. but i have my eye on a RIA Commander that might find it's way to my collection!

Nothing wrong with the RIA's. Should you get a bad one, they have a great customer service reputation.

Listen to these guys. ^^ They've been there, and they have listened to the feed-back here on the FTF.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

I added the armadillo bottle opener in there for your viewing pleasure.

Not really, it was accidental. But enjoy none the less, lol
