problem stripping delta 10mm
not sure how this happened....or how to fix...
but I tried to clean my 1911 delta 10mm yesterday and the rod that is normally recessed enough to let that small plated piece rotate to the left after you depress the bushing piece around it was sticking out too far, almost flush with the bushing that you push down to release.
most of the videos I looked up and watched showed the rod more recessed or sunken so it was never an issue once the bushing piece was depressed out of the way to rotate that small flat plated piece that is around the front of the barrel...
I know there are a good handful of 1911 experts and enthusiasts that might have encountered this before or know whats wrong with it and perhaps you can enlighten me on how to resolve the issue. no matter how hard i pushed on that rod, it would not go down far enough to rotate the other piece to the left to release the slide spring.
i posted a couple pics so you can see what i'm attempting to describe.

any help or suggestions are welcome.......Thanks!

Keeping the slide parts together, retract the slide to the point that the slide stop can be pushed out.
Once the slide is off, the FLG can be moved to allow turning of the bushing.
On reassembly, put the slide parts back together, and install the slide stop.
Care must be taken that the slide stop does go through the barrel link.

After you do all that, consider replacing the FLG with a 2 piece from Ed Brown.

I've had that problem on several aftermarket one piece GR's myself-
Everything has to be perfect to re-install-
I too highly recommend the 2 piece-

I loathe FLG's. I've never realized any benefits by using one....just unnessary grief. I put the GI rod back in my Delta and never looked back.

Thanks Canebrake!!!
I had a brownells shopping cart full, just hadnt placed the order yet. Now I have one at midway...
I was hoping you'd chime in with some advice, not that the other suggestions weren't 100% legit and helpful.
I actually wasnt able to push the slide catch out when i tried and sure enough my impatience and improper tool usage added a small idiot scratch to my favorite piece ....small as it may be, it screams "you're an idiot" right to my face every time i see it now.
while i was browsing this section i also came across your post with the colt defender and woodford reserve......now i have another colt handgun on my shortlist
