This was my first 1911. The RIA that I talked about in the other thread. It came with just the gov sights grips, hammer, etc. I shopped around and found a three white dot set to put on it, along with new grips and hammer, etc. Took it to a gunsmith friend of mine. All in all I spent less than a hundred bucks polishing this turd. It could easily win an ugly gun competition, but I love it to death. I think your first 1911 is kinda like your first love. It will always have a special place in your heart.

The next two are of the second RIA I bought, one with the grips that came factory, and then with a diamond pattern. A friend bought one that came with them, but didn't like the grips. So we shot for them. If he won I had to give him forty bucks for em. If I won I got them free. I won.

And then my SA. I love it too, but could never replace my RIAs.

If they weren't three grand a piece I think Id pick up one of these just on principal.

A friend has one, and believe it or not, the 230s werent any more difficult to control than a .45 230 gr. But it is a heavy piece. Id imagine twelve hours of carrying that wouldn't be all that comfortable.
