Default Poll: Which 1911

So, I think I'm finally going to pull the trigger on a 1911 pistol (welcome to the darkside, thank you, thank you). It's seems that I can acquire any number of reasonably equipped models from major manufacturers in the $700-$900 range.

I am looking for a fighting piece that may be carried, so reliability/durability is very important. I am reasonably sure I want a 5-inch gun, or maybe a commander. I do get a LE discount with Smith & Sig Sauer, so that is something to consider, but it's not enough to steer me away from a better piece.

If money was no object the poll would include the TRP, the Smith Performance Center 1911, the Kimber Tactical CDP, Colt Combat Government Carry, and the Les Baer Combat Carry...unfortunately that kind of funding is not currently available.

The poll includes some of the front runners, but I'm will to take any suggestions.

I believe in K.I.S.S. when it comes to 1911a1's. I have a Springer that has served me well for over 25 years.

I'm a Springer fan plain and simple. The Smith is a pretty good pistol. I just don't like Kimbers all that well. I've not had good history with them. The Sig is a great pistol but I can't justify the cost for what it is.

..But that's just me. The Springers I've owned have been fantastic and I've been able to hold my own shooting with people that had the others listed. For whatever reason I just shoot them better.

I'll add another vote for Springfield.
I have two 5" Springers, a GI and a Loaded. For the price, I'd take a Springfield over anything else out there.

I have a Springfield or two. I picked up the S&W Gunsite scandium commander when I found them in stock. It may be my new favorite 1911.

I would have said springfield but when I looked at the spring 1911 my buddy bought and about the biggest lettering on the slide says "made in brazil" that killed it for me.

My 1911 ownership is limited but I love my Kimber.
