Para 14.45 limited
I have an opportunity to buy a 14.45 limited with a magwell and aftermarket grip safety and five mags. I am familiar with single stack 1911s but this would be the first double stack for me. My question is other than the grip being a little fatter is there anything I should be concerned about with this gun? Anyone have one and have good or bad experiences? The guy wants $1000 for it, from what I can tell it seems fair considering they go for $1300 brand new. Thanks in advance. :-)

I had the p10 45. It was a nice gun. I paid $500 for it used. I would not have paid more for it. I later traded it for a S&W 586 in mint condition. The Para was real picky about ammo. And it shot about a foot low at 20 yards. No joke I had to practically file the entire front site off to get it on target.

I have a Super Hawg I purchased used.
Had to get another barrel and small parts.
I just finished it this last week and while it passes all the bench safety checks, I still have not had a chance to live fire it (and it is raining today).

I've owned two double stack Para's-
Neither were 100% reliable on feeding on all types ammo but thats about it-
I would never give $1000 for any Para but thats just me-

I have the very same gun and shoot it a lot. it's nearly indestructible and shoots everything well. As a result of a reloading mishap that I'm embarrassed to discuss I can tell you that mine handled 9 rounds of loads loaded with 1.5 times the max listed charge with out a hiccup. I have the chronograph printout to show the 230 grain loads at over 1300 fps. That is .44 magnum power. The gun is fine and I'm in awe of it. Some will call me a liar on this one. The same loads blew apart my magazine and blew off the grips of my Kimber Ultra CDP II though fortunately the gun itself is fine. I don't mind the thicker double stack grips. I also carry the P12 on a regular basis and it too is an awesome gun. You should be happy.

Thanks for the answers guys. Please tell me why you shot nine of those rounds before noticing what was up? Then in another gun too? I just got done explaining to a troll why guns don't just blow up on their own. Glad your guns are tough though. :-)
