Default Which one of these three 1911s and why?

It's about that time to pull the trigger on a 1911...my first one actually. I'm excited to own something that's not plastic

In torn between these 3, so I'd ask y'all...

Which one of these 3 would you choose and why? Thanks for any and all input.

1. Springfield TRP
2. Kimber Raptor
3. Sig Sauer Scorpion

I like all three but don't know which may be the best option. I've heard a lot of bad stuff about limber reliability and their limited 1 year warranty.
On the other hand I've heard great stuff about the TRP but I haven't heard anything about the Scorpion...

I'm not a fan of series II Kimbers.

Springfield's high end 1911s are very nice and they stand by their product.

COB on my last boat had a Sig Scorpion. Also a very nice 1911.

Of the TRPs I've shot and his Scorpion they were pretty evenly matched. The TRP fits my taste a little more, as it seems a little more subtle.

Springfield TRP all the way of the 3 you've listed. Kimber has a few too many questionable reports on quality/customer service and the Sig has an external extractor.

With that said, if it were my money for the price of the TRP I would be buying a Colt Gold Cup.

Forget all 3 and go with a colt.

I'm new to the 1911 world, but own plenty of other firearms. I'll add this. My friend bought a Sig Scorpion, and it looks and shoot well, but the night sights it comes with SUCK. Maybe it was just his, IDK, but I was very disappointed.

I have a Springfield XD 9 subcompact, and the slide had problems turning (not quite rust, just like the coating was turning or coming off), and I contacted Springfield and told them. They didn't ask a question. Sent me a prepaid shipping label, and 2 weeks later I had a new slide coated in Melonite, looked brand new, they even took is completely apart and cleaned it, coated the other parts like the slide release, grip safety, etc. coated the iron sights, repainted the white dots, everything. I bought this gun basically 3rd hand also. They never even asked. For that customer service alone, I'd go with the Springfield 1911. But that's just me. I've heard great things about the TRP though. My .02. Hope it helps. Brock

I would probably go with the order you have them in already, but you'll be getting a very nice firearm with whichever you pick.

All three are fine pistols. The differences are minor. The SIG should have a slightly heavier trigger pull OTB, if you care about target matches. I have a TRP, because I shot it better than an equally priced Kimber. The grips on the Springer may be rough, so-called aggressive checkering, but they can be easily replaced.

Default Which one of these three 1911s and why?

Id put that kind of money in a Dan Wesson over any other 1911 in that price range If it was my choice.

But out of the 3 id go to a TRP,I think it's a slightly nicer gun than the scorpion. And even if the kimber turns out to be equal in quality to the springfield, their warranty is laughable, and I still can't get over that for their premium branding.

All 3 are going to be fine weapons only thing I'd mention is that if you plan to carry; look into holsters before buying a Sig. Sig holster selection can be quite a bit more difficult than standard 1911s (its the slide profile)

Others have said it. Kimber's warranty is pathetic.

Personally I don't like the looks of Sig's 1911s.

Although I've never shot one, of.your list I would personally choose the Springfield.
