Old Colt Commander

Stumbled across an old looking colt commander last night. My friend wants 600 for it. It is beat up an scratched up pretty good but everything seems to work hat fine. Does 600 sous like a good price? Also if someone could help date it I'd appreciate it.

My list only goes to 1978 and the begining serial number for that year was
70BS69000. So I would assume the one you are looking at was made sometime after 1978. Without seeing the piece it is hard to estimate condition and value. Just looking at the pictures I would not say $600 is a bargain. But that is just my thoughts.

Shoot it before you buy. One or two mags will tell you everything you need to know.

It's been worked on, offer him $500 and snap it up at $600 if he stands firm.

A 70 series Colt Commander, hell yea!

I have this thing about the extended slide stop. I don't like them.

That is a tip off to me that it was worked on. As others have said, shoot a couple of mags through it.
(And try a couple of HP rounds, too.)
