Any firearm will have to have some parts replaced (had to replace sear, disconnector, hammer, and springs on my CZ-DW). Did it reduce the value? No, as I used replacement parts.

You can buy a Harley-Davidson. Chrome the heck out of things, and what do you have? A chromed out HD. If you were going to buy it used, what book would you look at? The Blue Book, and they don't care about how much was spent on chrome.

Where do you buy your tools at? Harbor Freight or the Mac Tools Truck? When I don't care about the quality, Harbor Freight gets my dollar.

I've never had a 1k + 1911, but the kimbers I've had are great. The one I have now I got from J.D. and it's my favorite firearm I've ever owned.

I had a smith and wesson 1911 for a short time. I really didn't like the finish or the trigger, but it was a mid range +/- $900 gun.

My buddies RIA armory was about $450 and it's fit and finish is what you can expect for that. I really don't like it and would just save for a better one.

My other buddies taurus 1911 really isn't that bad at all. I wouldn't be upset if I owned a $600 taurus 1911 at all.

I really like mine. Maybe it's one of those things that you can't miss what you don't have. I'll try some $2k gun and then realize what I am missing out on and regret trying it in the first place, well my savings account will regret it at least.
