Nighthawk bobtail
The latest addition to the family has been delivered. Aluminium bobtail frame frame, spalted maple grips, crowned 4.25" barrel, shortened slide stop, Heinie sights, Nighthawk quality. This is 45 ACP porn!

That's an excellent choice. We used to have one in 9mm for the lady before the FTF boating accident.
That thing shot the daylights out of everything we fed it. Smooth, reliable and accurate as can be.
Did you order up the extra mags thru Nighthawk as well? I would highly recommend them.
Looking forward to your maiden range trip.

This may sound ridiculous, but what is the purpose of the bobtail? Does it provide function or aid in anything?
Don't get me wrong, that is a beautiful Pistol.
I just don't like the look of the bobtail. Looks like something is missing.
I also don't like the look of serrations on the front of the slide on 1911's. Just me.

I believe the bobtail is for easier concealment. Usually, it's the corner of the gun that prints.

If you have the Magazine in does it stick out, since it is not bobtailed?

Nope, only the mainspring housing is bobtailed.
