Default New Carry - NeedInput

So I want to purchase a new 1911 carry gun and I have narrowed it down. My two choices are the colt defender or colt commander. I would also consider a dan wesson but haven't done that much research (other than scanning this forum).

So 3" or 4.25"? I do plan on buying quality leather (suggestions here would be helpful as well but not the intent of this post). My carry position is IWB at the 4 oclock position.

Thanks

also check out the Springfield Armory Loaded Micro Compact 45, beveled and radiused for carry, low snag proof, three dot night sights, slim grips, and 3" barrel. just bout one about a month ago. awesome pistol and not bad on accuracy for a 3" barrreled pistol. little pricey, but worth it IMO.

Personally, I prefer the Commander, but if weight is a factor, that'd give the edge to the Defender. Colt does make a 'Lightweight' Commander in the XSE series.

I have carried the Defender for years and just switched to the Commander. Wish I would have gone with the Commander from the get-go.

Give the Talo WC Commander a close look. It's a Series 70 with a NM barrel.

As for quality leather, one stands above them all. The Milt Sparks Versa Max II.

Versa Max II

Wanta know how good they are? If you ordered today it will take them 26 weeks to make one for you! Yea, that good.
