Without question, to me the 1911 design is the best looking, most functional style handgun on the market..while I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 9mm, I don't think I'd want to get anything smaller than that..and as you suggest, the "real" 1911 is the .45..some day I'll own one.. meanwhile I'm happy with my two 9mm's..

Ok, finally got the Browning HP I've been wanting, haven't fired it yet but heading to the range this week.
What a great gun!
