New 1911, But What?
Looks like I need another 1911. I've had a gap in my collection for a while now. The gap I need to fill is for a full size "looker" that still shoots good. My old Taurus gets abused and isn't much to look at. The main reason I need a gun is because I finished up an amazing set of grips last night that I want to keep for myself. I just have to find a gun that they will go with. I'm thinking they look best on a blued or black frame/gun, but open to opinions. I think my budget would be about $1100 though I'm a long way from there. What would everyone recommend?
Here are what the grips look like: http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/y...s/PA110129.jpg |
Colt...... :d

But which one? I'm thinking blued and their blued Gold Cup is kind of an old school look. Don't know if the grips would match the style.

How about a project gun that you then send off to someplace like Robar and get a custom coating?

Gold Cup National Match is a nice one.

Yeah, I knew that. For current production guns, i usually keep them a while and then get ready for something different. Won't be a problem to keep a personal gun more than a year. Thanks for the advice though.

I agree. Very nice gun, and a classic. Deep blue finish, spur hammer, and GI grip safety. I think the grips would look out of character on that gun though. I see that style going more with some figured walnut or dark cocobolo. I'm not sure the two-tone orange and blonde would go well.
