Very Nice! *thumbs Up* Don't ever get the idea to dump the spur hammer and add night sights. Just leave it in that amazing condition and marvel in it's excellence.

Mine, by serial No., was mfd. in late 1913 or early 1914, marked on slide R.H. side, same as yours, "Model of 1911 US Army", but NO MARKING on frame United States Property.
An "expert" has insisted that ALL Colts of my vintage were marked US property.
I think he is wrong. Anybody know??

I don't know anything about all, but at the last gun show I attended there was one that was said to be 1913 vintage that has that below the slide.

Boy , they weren't kidding when they said the original front sights were about useless !! LOL
Nice original weapon there , as JD says leave it alone and enjoy it you can buy a new "Play" gun and modify it till your hearts content but you don't find what you have there very often these days .

Awesome. The numbers match the back story too. That pistol was made between Jan, 1913 and Aug, 1913. Judging by the early serial number for that time frame, it mas made towards the beginning of the run.
Take care of her, she's a living piece of history.

Man, if that is original blueing, that is AWSOME! I have a weak spot for actual 1911's, as opposed to 1911 A1's. I actually love them all, but the 1911's prior to 1923, are just awsome! What a beautiful weapon!
