The grips are box elder burl. It's a wood I use pretty regularly.
As far as the work, any machine shop or gunsmith can mill off the Taurus emblems on the side. It's an easy job and shouldn't cost more than $30 or $40 to do. Then you can get a handheld portable sandblaster at a hardware sore for about $15-$20. The 80 grit glass beads are from Harbor Freight and it was $40 for 50lbs, enough to do 3 or 4 guns.
