. I'm no where near an expert though.
i am no expert by any means either, but with owning, shooting, handling and working on them for close to thirty years, i would at least say i have decent working knowledge of the 1911 platform. i don't know every maker of 1911's, but know many of them from being around them, shooting them or owning them. i have been an enthusiast since picking up my first one many, many years ago and have tried to learn as much as possible as i can about them.
IMO, the 1911 paltform is simply the closest in perfection one can get to in a pistol. now that statement is an opinion and observation of mine and not fact. but a simple fact is, today i see many manufacturers that are making 1911's that weren't many years ago. Dan Wesson i can remember making just revolvers, Smith & Wesson is making them, Remington, Sig, Ruger, and ect...
this forum is about teaching new people about firearms and sharing knowledge. when someone makes statements that are not supported by facts or sources, and is simply hearsay, it does no good to those who are wanting to learn and don't know any better. and if someone wants to just say that foreign made 1911's are not as well made or of the same quality as an American made 1911, then please show proof and show facts that support that statement. IMO, i don't feel one bit out of line for asking for that evidence.
