My High Standard 1911
I made a thread a couple of weeks ago about taking my High Standard to the gunsmith to have most of the parts switched out with Ed Brown parts. The gunsmith made a not so positive remark about the gun and made me feel awkward. Well i just received the call from him telling me tht my gun was finished.. He then told me tht once he started messing with it he was "pretty shocked and impressed" with the workmanship of the gun. He said tht at first he had his concerns since the gun is made in the philipines but after he took it apart He said tht the gun is easily compared to a colt 1911 and tht he had NO problems with installing any of the parts. Needless to say i am really happy to hear tht and i will post some before and after pics once i pick it up

Looking forward to your report!
Glad to hear the good news that you have some new-found respect for the grumpy old gunsmith!
Not to mention vindication in your decision to purchase the High Standard 1911.

Excellent! But...

I'd rather my own son see me die on my feet as a free man, than watch him go, broken, into slavery.

I've heard good things about the high standards, but that the Philippines thing scares a lot of people off. I'd like to get one, I've seen them run for $399 to $499. Of course there are about 1,000 different guns that I want right now.

The gunsmith's concerns were tht the gun wasnt going to b mil spec so the parts wouldnt fit as intended or tht the holes wouldnt line up to b able to install the parts. Like i said he told tht he recanted his prior statements, tht the High Standard is a damn good 1911. And tht he didnt have a single problem or even a hiccup when installing the parts. So now ive got a High Srandard slide and frame and all internals are Ed Brown

Good news!
She looks great and I look forward to a range report which I trust you will post.
Hi Standard is no stranger to the semi-auto pistol world.
Take the HD Military for example.

I'm glad things worked out. Like everyone else, I would like to see a range report.
