Default My First....

Colt.

Stopped at the LGS today to discuss ordering a Colt TALO 1911 9mm. Sitting in the case on consigment was a Colt Commander in 9mm. The propietor informs me the gun has been back to the custom shop. The gun had been in the shop for a week or so and the owner was already willing to move on price.

Gun has:

Nowlin barrel and bushing,
Wilson Combat trigger, hammer, firing pin.
Herret fancy coco bolo grips ($35 on Ebay)
Got all the stock parts, barrel, trigger, hammer, firing pin, grips, extra mag
Also got an STI match trigger to boot.

I filled out the paperwork, I pick it up Monday at noon.

I am on vacation Monday.

I think I just found the trigger & hammer upgrade for my Stainless GI Springer.

You will love the Commander size 1911.

I'm interested in your range report and thoughts on the 9mm. Keep us in the loop.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

Well I already have a Kimber in the Commander size. Got any extra paper clips?

Its just that the 9mm runs like melted butter through a sieve in a 1911. Last Monday at the range, the RSO warned me about double taps with my RIA tactical 9.

Default Range Time

If it was not for the fact I was shooting a new to me gun, I would have stayed home. Wind was blowing 20 to 25 mph, so I was shooting a moving target. Started low & left, but felt pretty good at the end with a pretty decent group around the bullseye.

This dude is quite snappy, much more so than my RIA full size 9mm. It ate any ammo I fed it, even the pointy nosed Fiocchi HP's. The trigger is oh so smooth.

Only thing really lacking is a full length guide rod, but I can fix that easily enough. I am partial to the Hogue wrap around grips, so I may have to add some of those.

Looking forward to getting back to the range when we don't have gail force winds shaking the target and the shooter around.
