My first 1911
Springfield 1911A1. Before puchasing it I had a long discussion with my late friend comparing Colt vs Springfield Armory. Almost bought a Thompson 1911. This was 22yrs ago. My brother acquired a Thompson 1911 and had feed issues with it. Bargain priced at the time a little work with the dremel tool and some polishing compound on the feed ramp got his "cheap" 1911 humming as good as any Colt or Springfield. Their quality is much better now. But with the demand for 1911's increasing there doesn't appear to be any bargains out there. 600 to 700 bucks on average around here in W/Pa. Gotta love 'em though.
