Default My early days shooting the 1911 (photo)

This photo was taken when I won the Maryland State Championship in the Sharp shooters class/level. Two Months later I moved into the Expert level, and the fun began. I was a member of the Naval District Washington Shooting team and a shooting instructor at the US Naval Academy at Annapolis.
The 1911 45 you see in my hand is a magnificent match weapon built by the gun smiths at the US Naval Academy Amory. I shot this weapon and a Hi Standard Victor in all my matches. Those were great days. Guns and ammo all free!!!

My utmost respect sir. The only thing I'm trying to figure out is how being in the Navy you got to shoot a real gun? Didn't realize that you guys were allowed to play with them. Sure you weren't a Marine? LOL Thanks for your service!!!

Funny thing, Before I moved into Expert level and shot against the Marines at Quantico, I won all my matches. They were a bit miffed and called me a "sand-bagger". Then when I beat them in the Expert level they said nothing. LOL
