Default On the market for a 1911, help!

Hello friends,

I am currently looking to spend $1,000 - $1,500 on a 1911. I have a shot a Kimber 1911 and I love it, was wondering if there is any other one you guys could recommend.

Thanks!

Looks like You got the cash for just about any 1911, I'd stick with Kimber or Colt, with that price range.

Double check warranties.
Colt, Dan Wesson, Springfield Armory are good.
Kimber offers a 1 year limited warranty.

That price range should get you a good 1911.

STI makes a great 1911. You could get a Trojan and have a few hundred left for grips and ammo.

have you considered a Rock Island Armoury 1911? Excellent pistol
another really good shooting 1911 is the American Tactical Imports 1911 which you could buy two and still have plenty left for several hundred rounds of ammo. if you are dead set on spending that much on a 1911 then buy an original Colt Combat Commander.

I don't recommend get a cheap 1911. I'm not saying they are all bad I've shot a rock island that preformed flawlessly and one that Jamed every other round. IMHO I think if you spend any less than 700 it's really luck of the draw if you get a great one or a bad one.

I vote STI or Dan Wesson. Colt or Springfield fight for third place. I shot a TRP a few weeks ago that I really liked. You should be able to find an excellent 1911 with your budget.

Springfield would probably be the first place I'd look in that price range.
