Dan, that't the one i started with as well. i too wanted something less, well, "blinged out" so i modified mine as shown in my thread i posted here on the forum.

I have the Ruger. Mine is a Commander length. It is a well built gun. I also have a Citidel which is similar to the RIA. The Ruger is much higher quality. I would buy it again without a doubt.

I shot a Ruger 1911 for the first time today! It is a fine 1911 but as most all factory produced 1911 pistol factory box guns, could us a little trigger work in my opinion. But a real nice pistol and overall quality was impressive!
Surely not a Rock River Arms Inc past custom pistol, or Les Baer, but great out of the box factory pistol! I would recommend one if you are looking for a fair priced 1911 and good quality.
