Looking for 1911
 

Ive been looking for a relatively cheap 1911 possibly a 38 super, .45 would be nice but 45 Ammo is alittle steep

Rock Island Armory makes a 1911 chambered in 38 Super, one version is blued and one in nickel plate i believe. better check the price of a box of 38 Super just for grins before ruling out the 45 ACP. generally it runs soemwhat higher in price.

I'm looking to get a hold of a 1911 as well.

I finally just got an AR so I guess I'll have to wait a while on the 1911. I'm also looking into getting a Judge.

I actually bought my judge instead of the 1911 I wanted earlier this year.

Cane is making a good point. I would add unless you are a handloader you may not get the results from the .38 Super you would like. :)

So should I just get the .45 acp then or maybe another cal? I've shot a .40 cal and liked that pretty well

Your implication that getting a 1911 in .38 super will save you money is not correct. .38 Super is easily as expensive as .45 acp, if not more so. Do a comparison search on Ammo To Go or Ammoengine.com, you will see what I mean. For your needs, I believe you would be better served with a 9 mm 1911.
A bit more clarity on your price range might be helpful. As for absolutely the lowest prices, Rock Island or one of the other Philippine built guns are probably what you are looking for.

For very low cost range time get the ATI version of GSG's 1911 22lr. If a name is important, you can get Sig's version of the GSG.

Another option is a Rock Island in 9mm, either a GI or for another $50 get the tactical.

I have both the ATI GSG and an RIA tactical 9. Both are fun to shoot at lower cost than 45 acp.

There are other 9mm 1911's on the market, RIA is great choice for a range gun and to get started. Colt, Springfield, Kimber, STI, etc. offer 9mm's. You just done see them "on the shelf" as often as 45's.
