Sarge, those are called "tactical grips" and they're old school. The half checkering is supposed to provide better grip.

No the mags don't load properly. Instead of being at a slight angle they are straight. So this cause an FTF

I have a Remington R1 myself. Mags are super cheap and I will eventually replace them. However right now they work. Is post a pic but the app doesn't wanna work for me right now

The Remington R1 is a great gun. I have the GI and besides tossing out the crap mags and replacing them with Tripp Cobras I put on a long trigger, a new set of grips and called it Tuxedo.

The M1911 Knife. I'm thinking about ordering one. Looks to be a very nice knife. And a cool way to carry around a some extra grips.
