Sigh...you guys are KILLIN' me...I've got all sorts of firearms but no .45 yet. And as a student and sometime teacher of history plus a firearms enthusiast it's probably not even right of me to admit that...
Since looking at this thread I've caught myself on Kimber's website...more than once...
Oh and one other thing...CPTTango30...I couldn't help but notice you said Stafford, VA for a location. Small world. That's where I live!
Keep showing off those .45's guys...you may wind up with another addition to the clan sooner than later!

I like 'em, but that doesn't mean much to anyone but me. If you have a mag well, it really helps seat the mag on the first try. I have thick ones and thin ones, and I like the thinner ones better. I don't think there's much benefit to more than a 1/4" sticking out. Most are thicker than that. __________________ Freedom has a flavor the protected can never taste...

Are you doing any competitive shooting?
The bump pad is primarily there to soften the drop force when speed reloading.
There are other designs that assist in tactical applications like seat checking with mag-guides and with slippery hands in the rain.
The two that come to mind are the Tripp Research Cobra mag with the BP-A series base pad and the Wilson Combat ETM Tactical Magazine.
I own both and would trust my life to both but will only buy Tripp Research from now on!
The Tripp Research Cobras are light years better hands down!

......Cobra ^ ....................................ETM ^ ....................................Cobra ^
Look at the smooth lines of the machined feed lips of the Cobra and the abrupt stamping lines of the EMT.
The Cobra feed lips are longer than others and hold the round secure and guide the round longer as it's stripped from the mag and goes to battery. __________________ .

This is my Taurus I lent to my friend for his first full paint job. He did a halfway decent job with the exception of a couple rough spots and one flake. It was just redone so more pics to come. Sorry about the quality of pics, taken with phone. |
