I have only seen that slide release on a "German" gun, that was a 1911 but they called it something else.... I should say I "read" about it, I did not "see" it myself.
They had a story and pictures.

Uhhh...no, you did REAL good. Can't tell much from the photos about the condition but, regardless, for $400 you did good....provided all the parts are there and all is intact.

Got the 1911 bug. After the Ithaca I bought a Commander style that my gunsmith made for himself. It has an Essex frame a Colt barrel, ambi safty, extended slide release, a really smooth 3 lb trigger, unknown slide. He says it has good metal, fit perfectly but has no markings. Shoots sweet. Then came my favorite, Springfield Operator TRP with Trijicon nite sights. I may have to give up my wheel guns to get more 1911's... . Nope. My wife says NOT!

I took it to my smith and he stripped it and checked all the numbers and determined that everything was in almost new cond. and all parts were Ithaca. It is an arsenal re-build as it is stamped SA but it looks like all the best parts were used in this one. The only wear is from the holster. I will see if I can post better pics.
