Your US&S hails from 1943 and the frame matches the slide, which is rare. They made 55,000 Union Switch & Signal 1911A1s and they are quite collectible.

Always regretted the day I sold my Sprinfield 1911 that I purchased back in 1988. Finally decided to get another 1911 in 2007 but after some discussion with my local gun shop, was talked into going with a Springfield XD .45 which I never regretted since it shoots like a champ and has 13+1 capacity. Still, I love the 1911 and when the bug finally hit me again last year, I went with the R1 in stainless. Added a set of VZ's and finally feel like all is right in my world...

Thanks! I purchased directly from VZGRIPS.COM

They're Operators II in black G10 material. I also purchased stainless screws too; but, I got them off eBay since they were half the price VZ wanted w/ free shipping.

The G10 material has a little "bite" to it but you'll appreciate it (and won't notice it) when you're out shooting.

I went with standard thickness. Also, I found the name of the business where I purchased the screws. It's called Strike Industries. If you go with the thin grips, I believe VZ will tell you to order their universal bushings and any set of their screws to work with their thin grips. One thing I liked about the folks at VZ was they were very helpful when I called prior to my order. Nice folks!
