Picking up my latest addition today, a Para P16.40 double stack. While it's not a "purist" 1911, it's feel is very similar. I had a P16 LDA version and it was a great shooter but I just could never get used to the LDA trigger. The one I'm picking up today has the normal SA trigger.

The 1911 is my favorite platform and I wanted one in .40 as I have a boatload of ammo on hand. A fella working at my local gun shop has a Kimber Classic stainless in .40 but he just refuses to sell it to me. I'll post some pix when I get it home...

I'm very interested to hear your opinion on this gun. I want a 1911 but I am already invested in .40 and don't want another caliber if I can avoid it and Para is one I have seen lots of online but not at shows or dealers.

Do you know what the difference between a P16 and an S16 are? I don't see the P16 on their website.

How does the doublestack feel? Is it a wider grip than other 1911's?

I have no idea of how the S16 differs from the P16 as it was the replacement model, fairly similar I think. Yes, the double-stack models are quite a bit wider than a regular 1911 but not as "blocky" as a Glock 21 IMHO. I really liked the other P16 I had with the exception of the LDA trigger. While smooth (like a Kahr), I could just never get used to it.

I just have so much .40 ammo that I've been looking for another 1911 pattern pistol in this caliber for a while. While I'm not a huge fan of .40 in general as I find it "snappy" compared to .45, in a steel pistol it's a different animal. This one will be my secondary bowling pin gun, especially when I'm low on .45 ammo...

Here's the picture. I'm not hugely fond of the Para "painted" finish so the slide on this one may get Cera-coated...

Great gun. Para makes some fine weapons. I really like the LDA trigger and I'm shopping for another Tac Four. I also have a double stack Springfield 1911,and it uses the same wide body frame as the Para along with Para 14rd magazines.

Nice pistol,the PAINTED slide kinda gives it a duo-tone look. The Paras ive fired have been pretty accuraue. Range report soon? Eye (Eddie)

I'll get this one to the range early next week. My next bowling pin match is September 21st and I want to smoke test this one as I may give it a go. Ordered a couple of spare mags yesterday, and I already have lots of holsters that will work.

I shot a pin match a while back and my Sig 229 in .40 and I did pretty well. This one should do a bit better with the 5 inch barrel and longer sight radius (may shoot JHPs though to make up for the difference in bullet weight)...

The new mags came in (bought Mec-gar's as they're half the price) yesterday so I stopped at the store/range on the way home from work. I ran a box thru this one with my usual pin warm up routine, 10 yards rapid fire, and I kept everything centered in a fist sized group.

If y'all haven't shot .40 in a steel gun I can tell you there's a world of difference. I find .40 very "snappy" in the poly platforms with significant muzzle rise; however, in this chunk of steel it feels very tame. The new ignition group from Fusion should be here tomorrow and I'm looking forward to shooting it again after the switch. There's a bit of slop in the factory plastic trigger and the kit should make this a sweet shooter.
