One piece of advice. I always use mags with polymer followers in alloy framed 1911s - like Wilson 47s. Probably paranoia, but I just don't like the thought of a steel follower being that close to an alloy feed ramp...

Good point but.......I have a problem with a polymer interface with the slide stop.

I found the solution, Tripp Research's Cobra mag. It has a hybrid follower with a combo polymer/steel assembly.



Yes they are pricey, but after considerable testing I have never looked back! This is the only mag I'll use in my carry gun!

Why would anyone consider putting a $7 gun show mag in a CCW?

Cane, a buddy of mine uses nothing but the Tripp mags and swears by them. One night after our pin shoot, he wanted to run a mag thru my S&W 1911 - and it did not like the Tripp at all. It's been flawless with Wilsons and CMC Powermags but it hated the Tripp's for some reason...

I was planning on getting kimber specific magazines for this pistol. Shouldn't that work?

You might be able to wiggle one or two out of them at a discount. There is no real reason to get the Kimber factory mags. I have shot just about everything through my Kimbers and the 47D's and the Mec-gar ( other than one 11 rounder that I bought ) have all run great.

The important thing is to get magazines that feed reliably everytime. Some guns only like certain mags. Cane's recommendation is a good one, and those are some great mags, but the ones I have all run great for my guns, so I haven't seen the need to upgrade just yet.

However, if you can dump an entire mag through, going with double and triple taps, without having any FTF or FTE issues, then THOSE are the mags you want on you when the S hits the proverbial fan....

Congratulations !!! That is a beautiful kimber, I really like the color scheme of those they all go very well together.
Once you get that you will fall in love all over again. I bet you can't wait to take that baby to the range
