I have wanted a Kimber for some time now. It's on my list. Maybe I'll make sure and get a used one unless there is a change.

According to industry figures from a year or so back, Kimber sells almost as many 1911's as all of the other manufacturers combined. Bought my Pro Carry used 8 years ago and am still waiting for the first malfunction. Accuracy is very near my Gold Cup.

Still waiting on the first malfunction! Well said. All I ever heard before I got my 2 Kimbers was "you'll get all kinds of jamms till 500 rounds."

Kimbers this and that. I finally figured out people who started all that chatters are the people who can't into Kimbers. So they give themselves a reason to hate on Kimbers.

So in closing, I too, am still waiting on my first malfunction.

If I were going to own a 1911 it would be a Kimber. My Gold Match is the most accurate 1911 I have ever fired, easily capable of under 1" groups at 25 yards.

I was on a shooting team while at the Air Force Academy, and we had about 12 Kimber target models, these guns were beat up and abused, guys who didn't have their own gear would shoot these guns, putting probably 500 rounds through each one over the course of a 3 hour team practice session. twice a week. only time they were cleaned was before a match (2 - 3 times a month)

not once did we ever have any malfunction of any kind.

about 5 or 6 of us bought our own Kimbers, I had mine worked over immediately (pictured a few posts above), but some guys left theirs bone stock so they could also use it for carry, and even brand new, theirs never malfunctioned.

If anyone has problem with Kimbers, I'd have to question either the ammo, or the magazines.

I think one can put 1911 brand arguments into the same hopper all of these AR-15 brand arguments fit into. Comparing a Kimber to a Springfield is no different than comparing a Bushmaster to a Colt, to a Stag, etc. For every guy who puts forth a problem with one, 6 guys will post they've had no problems in thousands of rounds. And as always, 90% of the problems are either ammo, magazine, or maintenance related.

Well said! I absolutely agree and it's usually the ammo. I had a good friend that bought a Gold Match at my recommendation. He liked the gun so much he immediately bought one of the smaller carry models. He called to tell me he was having a problem with the gun jamming. I asked what ammo he was using and he said target ammo. I suggested he get some hot ammo that you would actually use for carry. Once he tried that, he has since never had a problem. A carry gun is designed for hotter loads.
