Default Kart .22lr

I saw one of these at the LGS recently. It was a Springfield frame and it said Kart. The trigger looked modified and it was all steel. It looked like a 1911, but was .22lr. Anyone know anything about them?

IDK. This one didn't appear to be a conversion kit. It looked like a dedicated .22lr.

i know there are some dedicated 22 1911's that are same size as a full size 1911. could be someone built a dedicated 22 out a full size 1911?

Maybe. It looked factory built though. The LGS said they have never seen one and they didn't know much about it.

possibly a factory custom build? i am not aware of any SA 1911's being offered in a 22 though. SA does have a custom shop and it could be something done years ago. with the right amount of dollars swapping hands, who know what they will build for a customer.

I found some more info. You guys were right, it's a .22lr conversion. Fred Kart was the designer's name. He made about 2500 from what little info I could find. The one in the shop was just mated really well to the Springfield frame. The kit originally came with the slide, barrel, recoil spring, slide stop, and 2 mags. On an expired gunsamerica auction a guy bought just the kit without a frame for $600. The LGS hasn't priced theirs yet.

Thanks for the help.
