Default Just bought my first 1911!

Brand new Rock Island 1911A1 in 9mm. just got back from the range & man do i love this gun! i put 100 winchester whites through it without any hiccups, jams, etc. only problem i had was the occaisional brass bonkin me on top of my head.

the can started at 10 yards & i kept at it until i got it to fly over the backstop 25ish yards away.

i gotta say i'm impressed with this "entry level" 1911

That is a fine handgun, congrats to the new owner. I am curious though, why would you choose 9mm over .45?

nothing against .45 (i do have a carbine chambered in it) but i prefer 9mm. plus i'm one of those weirdo's that has to be a bit different than everybody else

Like Hossfly my 9mm RIA (GI model) is by far my favorite shooter. I had a few extraction issues at first that were quickly fixed. It is among my least expensive guns, but gives far more fun.. The only changes I have made to it (and won't change it any more) is to add some military surplus grips and an arched mainspring housing to give it that authentic 1911A1 GI look. You are gonna have fun with your gun.

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!
