Ithaca M1911A1
2 Attachment(s)
Greetings from Texas--

A few years ago I happily became the owner of an M1911A1 pistol, only to discover some time later that the Ithaca I "thought" I owned was an Ithaca slide with a Colt frame.

Many posts to forums, dealers, gunsmiths, and parts sellers left me without any lead on a pistol that would allow me to mate the slide and frame I owned with the needed parts to make two pistols.

Finally a pistol came available on Gunbroker with a Colt slide and Ithaca frame.

The Ithaca parts are here together for the first time in many years, while the Colt parts remain at my local gunsmith, awaiting genuine WWII sights.

I am unsure how to go with the finish of the two "new" pistols, as the new Ithaca frame is obviously refinished, while the Ithaca slide remains worn smooth with little of it's original parkerization visible.

Nice to have the guns complete, even if they are colorful! 60 60

Sweet, do you have any closeups of the proof marks?

Good job in reuniting those two old war horses.

The quick and easy re-finishing would be a nice parkerizing job. But a full blown restoration would involve some filing of nicks and dings. Probably not worth the expense, if they were mine.
